Astronomi-con tried to organise a tournament on a cruise boat but couldn't get enough parties to commit as it would involve flying to LA or something like that. Sounds like a great idea though.

Maybe downsize it a little for the test run? A trailer park in Florida with a swimming pool.

Given the incidence there seems to be of mass food poisoning and outbreaks of disease, I remain less than convinced of the merits of cruises. Add to that the feted instances of cruise liners breaking down and drifting without aircon or power and appeal diminishes even further. To top it off there seem to be a lot of cruises where the in-house entertainment seems to consist, at least in part of an Eagles or Coldplay tribute band. On the whole drifting, rudderless and ablaze, in shark infested waters seems preferable to that.

I was thinking low key: a yacht that holds ~12 for a day cruise. Cuts down on the cabin fever and you could have lunch somewhere nice. Naval game on a metal table with a blue cloth and magnetiesed ships, etc. on top.

Well you can cruise to Montevideo (actually you can take a ferry from Buenos Aires if you are on a budget) so you could do your best Kenneth More impression as you sort of pass the site of the Battle of the River Plate. The rangefinder is on the waterfront.

If you fancy something more esoteric, the remains of the casualties from HMS Java, killed in the battle with the USS Constitution are interred in the British Cemetery in Salvador. A cruise along the South American coast I could just about contemplate. Denmark to Spain sounds less far less appealing.
