I have based (and added new trousers to the Soviets) to most of the last order, and so I am ready to start painting. I have a plan for the Soviets and the  NVA, but Iam wondering about the Bundeswehr uniform?

I'm a bit rusty in my T2K timeline, but didn't East and West Germans join together early on as the shooting started? The uniforms of this new "unified" army can be a bit of both BRD and DDR colours. Not to mention that in WW2 they developed new uniform camouflage patterns over a couple of years, so you've got a plausible excuse to bring in Flecktarn early if you like.

Hi,

I am using the first edition timeline, so the BW goes across the IGB while (and because) the NVA are being fed into meat grinder that is the ongoing Sino-Soviet war. Initally the NVA remain in their barracks.

There would be a unified German army, but it wuld take time they do not have to integrate fully (in our world the BW continued to use NVA gear during the unification).

Of course there are going to be some parts of the NVA that remain loyal to their Soviet allies.

My guess after five years of total war there is going to be rather a mix and match of kit.

I am going for the "Deutschland '83"  look field grey for BW (which will include some former NVA).

Interestingly on my way back from SELWG I saw someone in a rain drop jacket (I did not photograph it but I now have the colour in my head)..

So I have finally finished the Bundeswehr.












I do need to get some better photographs. Sarissa Mini-Mart and a Blotz telephone box make up the background.

I need to order the rest of the figures.

For an urban environment, they have let the grass grow under their feet.

Urban planers have made stranger decisions. So I can over look a bit of grass in on the side walk.

I tend to add a bit of static grass to the pavements and other bits of my urban terrain, so these guys could just be in a destitute area.

Still, what you've done is effective enough for basing. They'll do for WWIII scenarios, or civic unrest as they are right now. If you're concerned over the amount of grass then just make it more patchy and add some street litter.

I have previously posted a version of the Crooked Dice Land Rover.
Crooked Dice have released stowage sets, and two of the Medium Stowage sets suit the Land Rover.

Based on the photographs in the Tankograd Key Flight '89 (pages 15 and 28) I have modelled a Fitted For Radio example.




I still have to add some decals and weathering.

Is that the way that stowage comes? In big resin plates like that? Seems useful for other vehicles like the beds of pickups I suppose, if it can be cut down to size that is. And I can see why Crooked Dice went for that Land Rover. With all its flat sides and hard edges it matches that style of vehicle their casting seems to be best suited for (without looking as weird as that Humvee they did).

Still, what British army Land Rover either doesn't have a bit of rust on it, or is streaked with rain? Not one I've seen. Go use half a pot of Citadel Agrax Earthshade on it and come back tomorrow.
