I’ve been sucked into a Gothic Horror project with the usual suspects and although vampires really aren’t my thing I’m tagging along mainly for the terrain aspect

I’ve got plenty of Victorian buildings in the catalogue with more to follow in the coming months but I felt it would be a good opportunity to go to town, as it were, on some decent London terrain.
The idea is to have a selection of 300mm square boards with various layouts on each. They will be modular but it won’t be apparent looking at the individual boards, there’s also going to be sewers underneath but more on that at a later date.
The first inspiration picture is the one below as I really like the mix of building materials and the layout.

So, with that as a basis it’s onto the first board. I’m not copying the photo, just using it for ideas. I’m also in two minds about a road surface. The types of road surface in London were quite varied, from your typical setts to tarmacadam to compacted earth and even hex shaped wooden setts using Australian wood (although these didn’t last long because they got slippy when wet and too many horses were breaking their legs on the slimy surface). I’m going to pop into the local art shop and see if they have any 2mm foam and if so I’ll do typical setts as then I can do 5mm pavements.
Only one picture for now but of course there will be more to follow

cheers
James
