Everything's Super! Thanks for asking.
« on: 08 May 2009, 01:05:51 PM »
As posted on Frothers while the LAF was busted, I decided to paint up some of the Clix I'd amassed recently over the bank holiday.

So, letting my imagination run riot (read: I'd been drinking heavily) I came up with Ireland's foremost (only?) superhero team, Justice League Eire!

And well, you can't have them just sitting about, can you? No, they need someone to thwart. So they face off against:

Dr Fist!

NightGit!

Flaming Quinn!

All very silly, and very quickly painted with blocked highlights and washes, but I think the look works for four colour comic book types. The sculpts aren't that bad under their dreadful factory jobs, either.

I've been reading a lot of marvel comics recently, and I can't honestly say that these are any dafter than the stuff that sees print.  lol

Would that be Guiness you're drinking there?

Heh. Should have been, shouldn't it?

I think it explains why Cuchulainn's original name was going to be "Punch Drunk" though.  :D

Great work JollyBob :D

Was that little chap originally Atom?  I don't recognise any of the others.  Maybe I just need to read more comics! ;)

Cheers!  :)

Aye, that's the Atom. The others in the team are Arachne (used to be Spiderwoman?), Animal Man, Ras al'Ghul and Hercules.

Bad guys are Dr Doom (new version), Morbius and the Human Torch.

Its never a bad thing to read more comics.

HAH!;) The heroes are great, and the villains are just... superbly absurd!

Love 'em, Bob. These are worthy of a place in comic book history! You've almost got me tempted to create one of these guys as a hero or nemesis with Champions Online;)

Well done!

Damn! now I'm going to have to see if I can find any boxes left ! It Works ! I have no idea who the originals are but their Irish avatars are very convincing. Sure it's fine to see the old Dog with the battle rage on him and Amergin looks marvelously sinister as a nineteenth century Dublin occultist. One of Yeats's mates in the G.D. perhaps.

Great minds think alike, Niels!  ;)

@ Baggins, give it a shot mate, they are really easy to paint up, and you don't even need to strip them first. Glad you liike Amergin, that was the exact look I was going for.  :)
