I have started a Dwarf & Goblin Wars project for Middle Earth. Middle earth has been a favourite thing of mine since the early 80's, but only now with the release of the Oathmark goblins & Conqueror models Dwarves have I seriously started collecting miniatures for it.
I decided on a Dwarves vs Orc/Goblin focus as I figured it had applicability across the 3 Ages of Middle Earth, with potentially little changing  in the general look of them. With that in mind I am avoiding any "Eye" motifs on orc shields.
So far I have completed a 12 figure unit of Dwarves & another of Goblins (with "Rampant" rule sets in mind). Work has started on the 2nd unit of Dwarves.

First up, here are the Dwarves:

Super work on both the dwarf and goblins, you have really done these lovely figures justice. I will follow your progress with great interest. :)

Beautiful.  I am glad you have gone for the Conqueror dwarves which, I think, are superior to the Oathmark ones (other than the metal figures which are on par with Conqueror).  The skin colour for the goblins/orcs looks perfect.  That poor drummer does seem to suffer from microcephaly!

Great job.

Thanks everyone :-)
Much appreciated.
I've finished 4 of the next Dwarf unit - slightly simpler shield design & different colour scheme.

Great work on these - especially (as others have said) the dwarf shields.

I think the Dwarf & Goblin Wars an excellent idea for a project; as you say, there's great transferability to all ages of Middle Earth. I might even get around to my own attempt at it one of these days...

These figures are phenomenal! really great work here. The goblins are great too they just have the right amount of grime and other feral things goblins have stuck to them, that drum looks like its been beaten all the way from Mordor to the Iron Hills. Looking foward to seeing more.

Incredible work- those shields are works of art!

These are exactly how I hoped my own Dwarves and Goblins would look- but I see now that I've fallen a little short!..  8)

Looking forward to seeing more!

Dwarves with spears makes sense to me, surely makes up for any height disadvantages! The blue shields are a very nice complimentary colour choice!

I love those skin tones on the goblins, thank you for sharing.
