A few weeks ago, I re-launched the Mousillon (Mordheim) campaign at my FLGS. SEE Campaign Rules and Setting Rules below.

Also, below is shot of my beginning Kislevite warband. The fellow in green is the Peasant Guide (Beggar hired sword) that each warband starts with under the campaign rules. The mounted model is Conrad Horstmann, a Road Warden hired sword.

After 4 games, casualties and injuries caused me to replace a couple of henchmen, my Esaul (Champion) Sergeant Ludvig, and my Youth, Boris, with new models. Since my Bear Handler, Oleg, has become the favorite target of enemy snipers, I've equipped him with a Wolf Cloak that my warband found using the Mousillon Exploration Cart, and heavy armor. I changed his model as well to reflect the new equipment.

Left to right: Vasyli (Youth), Oleg (Bear Tamer), Sergeant Anatoli (Esaul)

Back in February 2023, I posted my Random Happenings painting project.  Below is another update.

Ogre Bodyguard -painted
Swarm of Rats -purchased & assembled
Bloodletter -painted
Restless Spirit -painted
Evil Tree -painted -Looking for a better model
Skeletons 2D6 -purchased (I will likely use Zombie models here)
Spawn -painted
Dog Pack 2D3 -painted
Pit Fighter -painted
Plague Victims/Mob D6 -purchased & assembled
Sisters Matriarch -painted
Flagellants D3  -painted
Giant Spider -painted

Most of those models marked as painted can be found in this thread.  Below is an updated photo of Restless Spirit and Bloodletter, and photo of my newly painted Chaos Spawn.

Below are the models that I plan to use as my Plague Victims. I like the irony of including plague doctors.

Finally, here is my update 'Frenzied Mob'. It's comprised of 4 original GW Frenzied Mob minis, some Meridian Miniatures, some Dunkeldorf Miniatures, and a mini from the old GW plastic giant kit.

It's a 3D print. I purchased from a seller eBay, a year ago. I'm sorry, but the original listing has long expired, so I cannot tell you the name of the artist/company that designed the STL.

My second warband for the campaign are my Norse Dwarves (counts-as Dwarf Rangers). The core of the warband is comprised of Spellcrow minis, but it also includes Dwarves from  Avatars of War, Scibor, and Durgin’s Paint Forge. The Warlock (Tharkun) is GW and the Halflings Thief (Odo Underhill) is Stonehaven. The warband is still unpainted, but I'll post better WIP pics later.

To date, my Norse Dwarves have played only one game, against Restless Dead. We played campaign Scenario 7: 'Zombie Garden'.

In this scenario, each player places a Zombie spawning point and 3 Zombies on the board at the beginning of the game.  I wanted to harvest zombies for the XP and gc, so I put my spawning point about 12" in front of my Dwarves. My clever opponent, placed his spawning point near my spawning point. As a result, my stalwart Dwarves spent the first half of the game fighting horde of zombies, behind which the Liche and his warband advanced forward at their leisure.

The Dwarves slammed into the zombies and thanks to the Zombies' low WS and my Dwarves' high T, the Dwarves didn't suffer a single loss until the Liche got into spell range. Using 'Spell of Doom' (yes, that's its actual name), the Liche took out my Longbeard and stunned one of my Slayers, who was eventually taken out by a zombie.  The Dwarves took out 10-12 zombies (none of which were part of my opponent's warband) and my Warlock took out Liche's apprentice Necromancer, using Silver Arrows of Arha.

The game ended in a draw due to the store closing.

My Longbeard recovered, but my Slayer was captured by my opponent's warband. I bribed the Liche with 50 gc to return Slayer, costing me all the money I earned harvesting zombie 'brainz'. I fired my Halfling Thief (he simply isn't worth the upkeep cost) and hired a Halfing Scout to replace him (better ranged attack and lower upkeep fee). My Longbeard henchmen earned an advance and got a second attack, so I purchased a second Longbeard. After equipping the new Longbeard, I had just enough gc to buy my Dwarf leader Hrafna Deepforge, a proper Dwarf Axe (has the same stats as an axe but also has the parry rule).

The photo below was taken after the first turn. You can see the Zombie Gardens (i.e., the black tokens) near the windmill. As the zombie horde shamble forward, you can see my opponent's warband in the background, slowly stalking forward.

My Dwarves have their second game tonight. This time they will be fighting Witch Hunters.

Last night, my Norse Dwarfs battled Witch hunters. We place campaign Scenario:1 Unexpected Encounter, using the Random Happenings rules with no limits on the number of encounters per turn. Right off the bat, we were hit with a Storm of Chaos that struck the Dwarf Leader with warp lighting, wounding him and knocking him down.  The Storm of Chaos struck again a turn or two later, stunning the Dwarf Leader and knocking down the Witch Hunter's Tilean Marksman.

The Dwarves spent the entire game pinned down behind a building, avoiding the Witch Hunters' superior crossbowmen. As the Witch Hunters closed in my crossbow-dwarf, Halfling Scout, and Warlock shot time and time again, but the best I could do is either knock down or stun an enemy fighter.

** And yes, those are Halfling Witch Hunters. And yes, those War Hounds are actually large chihuahuas. **

When the Witch Hunters made their move, my Dwarves put up a valiant resistance, but their low numbers and low die rolls resulted in a Dwarf massacre. To be fair, Evan wasn't rolling spectacularly well either, so it was his numbers advantage (and good game play) that really made the difference.

I only won because of my opponent's sportsmanship. I needed to take OOA 4 Witch Hunters to force my opponent to take a Rout check at the start of each of his turns. When I failed to take OOA a fourth Witch Hunter on a crucial turn, I asked my opponent to humor me and roll the dice to see if he would have Routed. He rolled a 9, which would have been a failure.  At the end of opponent's next turn I declared that I was going to voluntarily rout. All that was left of my Dwarves was my Leader, Warlock, and Peasant. Then we noticed that Witch Hunter's OOA pile was missing one model, a Witch Hunter Hero. Once we located it, we realized that my opponent should have taken that Rout test at the beginning of the previous turn. My opponent graciously offered to rewind the last turn and declare the Dwarves the winner.  I agreed. Not because I wanted the win, but because ignoring my opponent's last turn saved me from rolling an injury roll for 1 Dwarf Hero, 1 Henchman, and my Halfling Scout, who all went OOA during that turn.

That was a class act.

All of my casualties recovered, but my Apprentice Hero suffered an Old Battle Wound.

I earned just enough gc during the scenario to hire two more Dwarf henchmen, bringing my warband up to 10 Dwarves and 3 Hired Swords.

I finally got around to putting some paint on my Mordheim Norse Dwarves warband (counts-as Dwarf Rangers).  I the started with 4 henchmen.

I also put some paint on one of my "Frenzied Mob" models that will serve double duty as a Peasant Guide (hired sword) for my Norse Dwarves warband. I also finished a new Hero model for my Kislevite warband.

Very nice painting all round. Model choice for peasant guide gave me a chuckle, he seems slightly nervous.
"Hurry! Follow me! If we don't make it now we're all goners, I tell you! Now run!" lol
Got to say that chaos spawn looks splendid in all its grotesque glory, you did an excellent job on painting it.
