AKULA’s Game of Thrones (pg16 Test pieces - Stannis’s forces & Golden Company
« Reply #225 on: November 24, 2019, 07:07:57 PM »
As promised, a couple of test pieces... apologies for the rubbish photos

First up, a member of Stannis’ Household Guard

A Perry French Medieval body, Militon head, and the arms/weapons will be a mixture of Perry/Fireforge with a Fireforge shield with some green stuff (that needs tidying up once it has set).

Secondly, a member of the Golden Company

Frostgrave Cultist body, Fireforge Byzantine Head and arms, and Gripping Beast Arab Light Cavalry shield. The shoulders in the photo look bare, but the Byzantine parts actually have cloth..it’s just the texture has washed out in the photo.

As always, comments appreciated

 :)

First dozen Dothraki finished.

Gripping Beast Arab Light Cavalry, green stuff furs to fit in with the winter theme, and Frostgrave Cultist swords.

Hopefully pretty true to the TV series, and imposing on the tabletop....does make me want to build more though.

A heroic effort just gathering all those swords! They look very nice!

Top notch Dothraki! They really look the part!

Nice work on capturing the look of the TV!Baratheons too with the distinctive Burgeonets! Looking forward to seeing him painted up!

The Dothraki look great.

But you forgot to make their arakhs flaming. :D

Thanks everyone, glad you like them

 :D

All those donations of arakhs paid off lol

Indeed.  Very grateful to the generosity of LAF’ers...going to have to buy a shed load of cultists for the next lot....fortunately I have a use for the rest of the sprue contents.

The Dothraki look great.

 lol

I did think about flames, but I’m planning on using the Dothraki in a wider campaign, rather than just against the Night King...besides, I haven’t got a Red Priestess figure yet  ;)

Thank you MFB, my painting is nowhere the standard of some of the other GoT threads on LAF, but I try my best  :)

A bit more progress tonight, have assembled some troops for Stannis Baratheon, and primed them ready for painting.

Some of the shields need tidying up, but I’ll fix them before I get on with the painting.

Looking good, can't wait to see them painted up! (Not that I'm biased)

Do you plan on doing any named-characters and/or King Stannis himself to go with them?

Thanks mate. I’ll probably make a Stannis, and possibly a Red Priestess and a Davos.

I love the helmets, very evocative of Stannis' forces in the TV series and I'm in awe of your productivity.

Looking at the shields unpainted I cant help noticing that the fiery heart looks somewhat like turnip...
