Now for 'Da Clevva Bit!'

Here are the two buildings side by side, the biggest of the two on its base board easily fits neatly in an A4 paper box with just enough space around it to cover it in bubblewrap when stored.

 :o

Which is quite handy as I just need to cut a box down to size.
The actual cunning plan involved with these buildings is not that though, as all of my buildings fit in A4 paper boxes.

It is this....

....the larger roof pieces, including the smallest tin, are all removable leaving just the lower sections which hold them in place when assembled.

The small tin is then opened and all of the other roof pieces from the large building fit inside it....

The smaller building is then opened and the small tin and the pieces from the roof then fit neatly inside this tin...

The smaller building is then closed and fits neatly inside the larger building.....

....which is then closed, with all of the component pieces now inside it. This is then placed in the A4 paper box.

Which means that both of the buildings now actually take up less space than the larger one alone when it is assembled.
I reckon this is the way forward with my sci-fi scenery as space is now an issue (because I already have too much scenery, apparently..  ::) ) so I shall have to utilise it well.

Wodya reckon?
 :)

Very clever.  :-*

I am also trying to find clever ways to store terrain, by using box in box packing.
I have also tried flatpack MDF ruins held together with magnets.

That is clever - reckon the paint will be robust enough on that tin?

Thanks, chaps.

Only time will tell, I guess. Luckily it is black underneath so it wont be too bad if it chips.
If it looks like it may be a problem I will varnish it at a later date.
 ;)

We got a game of OGAM in last night (I forgot to take pictures of that, though...) so I left the board out and took some pictures this morning of the new buildings with the civilians finished so far before packing it all away.

Once I have sorted out the pictures I will post them here later....

The figures and buildings look great. Very clever storage solution.

I've been using Plasti-Dip as an undercoat on stacking/folding/3Dprinted terrain of late, and it really seems to help with chipping or flexing damage, as well as helping hide some of the layers in 3D prints.

It's basically a rubber coating, which you can then paint over.

I don't want to hi-jack Mason's thread here but out of interest is that a UK or US product?  I use all sorts of plastics in my little projects and some are very difficult to persuade to take paint, so I would be very interested in looking into that. Cheers, Joe

That’s good - I only ask because I use tins for primer spraying (magnetic bases holding minis to the tin) and the one downside is the old layers of paint in the tin tends to flake off n make a mess. Be ace if yours are durable.

Design excellence, combination of form and function, practicality and aesthetics. Top marks.
