Briefspite's Medievals
« on: June 12, 2019, 02:46:20 PM »
I am currently painting up a "Kingdoms of Men" army for Kings of War loosely based on the Burgundian army of Charles the Bold.

There will be certain fantasy elements in the army since Kings of War is a fantasy rule set, but these will be in separate units so I can use the army for historical gaming as well. I don't know if its OK to post those units in this thread or not ?

I know the flags are in some instances wrong. Its hard to source good quality flags for the Duchy of Burgundy and its more important to me that the unit looks good than the flags be correct, and look awful.

This is the units I have finished so far, more pictures from different angles can be found here

Knights

Men-at-Arms

They look lovely - I think it's more than okay to post them here.

I don't care if they are posted in the wrong place (although I think not) - those figures are absolutely wonderful.   :-* :-* :-*

These look great, really nice bright colours. And you have used the large KoW bases to full effect to set-off the figures.

What other units are you planning?

Thanks all for the kind replies!

I must admit that your work was what inspired me to go that way :).

I really like the big multi bases, you can do great stuff with them.

Currently I am painting two small units of light cavalry and another big unit of Pole-Arms, probably divided into four smaller units for gaming purposes.

In the long term I have a third big unit of pikes, two more of knights, several units of pole-arms, archers, hand-gunners and artillery. For the fantasy part I plan on a couple of giants, two mounted lords on dragons and some other bits and bobs.

I hope to have a playable friendly army by the end of the summer and a proper hard core tournament ready army by the end of the year. Right now I am just painting whatever strikes my fancy, pikes are rather poor for their points in KoW, but they look good.

A.
