Resin or Metal?

Greetings all. A while back I made a post regarding a WIP Strategy Skirmish Game that I am creating (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=10337.msg118739#msg118739)...

The game will be in 28-35mm, the average size of a human being between about 32mm (a good deal of the miniatures will not be human).

I would like your input on which you would prefer the miniatures for the game to be cast in: Resin VS. White Metal. 

Resin would be considerably cheaper for me to cast them in, and for the consumer. It receives detail better than White Metal.
White Metal is less fragile and has a nice feel to it when moving the miniatures during a game.

Your input will help me decide which to cast the miniatures in, and would be greatly appreciated.

Basically I don't give a thing whether it's metal or resin. As long as the casts are good and the models are interesting I'm a happy customer. Sometimes I do like resin more than metal as the castings are better most of the times. In addition, they don't chip as easily, making them really nice for gaming too. On the other hand, if the castings will be like Ilyad Games' resin casts, then I'd say you REALLY need to go for metal (the casts had loads of flash and the occasional huge air bubble that had evaporated the resin...fantastic sculpts but horrible casts).

The size doesn't matter at all to me. I never understand the fuzz about 28mm vs 32 mm. On the gaming table you don't see the difference (especially if you are creative with basing) and both scales look cool. As a painter I prefer 32mm as it usually has a bit more detail than 28mm and allows for more freedom in freehands, blends, etc.

I prefer metal but as the man says its all about the quality of the sculpt and the casting.

Agreed!

So long as the 32mm figures are well sculpted and are fairly close to the current 28mm ranges (in terms of sculpting style and "bulk"), I would be happy to use them together. I freely mix all sorts together.

Metal and 28mm.

The reason for the fuzz is because of scale creep. Today's 32mm is tomorrows 35mm, etc. Anyone use 25mm with 32mm?

I do: WestEndGames StarWars Miniatures along with any other range of 28s and 32s that I like. I have always the excuse that different gravity leads to different growth...

Prefer white metal as it is less fragile.

However, if the models require it as they are highly detailed, then resin. 

Oh and if it makes a huge difference to the price of the game, then definately resin.
