Well for me 15/18mm is a very friendly community. The models do paint up much better and faster than modern 32-35mm minis, but imho the greatest advantage is the space needed, which is so much less than for larger figures, and terrain. You can make terrain much easier and cheaper and it looks way better in scale.
Check most buildings for larger models. They are strangely shrinked to fit on the tabletop. Hurches with the size of a portaloo, trees that are thinner than the thighs of warriors etc.
Combine that with an awesome ever increasing range of models and you have a feeling like in the early days of 25/28mm wargaming, like Rogue Trader, for instance!
