Since the 80's i used them. At first for pike in 15mm and by now for my 28mm. With a good glue you can be sure that your weapons'll never be bent or broken...I make some rope too with for lasso for example...
the metal weapons are sometime too big for the 28mm's hand.....there i can put 2 spears/sagaies in one hand of a masai warrior. And i close the hand with a pliers to keep them strong for playing game without the fear to see the spears bent or simply broken after several bend...
keep life simple !

Nervisfr, those spears are exactly the ones I wanted for my Maasai, and I had to build them myself to get them.  I cut florist wire to length, then sharpened both ends of the wire on a grinding wheel.  Went down the street to a sheet metal bending/cutting place and did a deal with them to squash one end of the wires (about half of each wire) in one of their forming machines.  I arranged the wires in the jaws of the machine, and we adjusted the gap between the closed jaws until we got the proper shape for the Maasai spears.  Then I painted 'em to be wood only in the middle 1/4" or so, black iron for the 'spike' and 'blade'.

Good luck with that.

Wow, your shields are truly gorgeous !   Spears are also extra good.

That may be a kudu-horn 'horn' rather than an elephant ivory one, however.

Great stuff !

Awesome ;D Some of my favourite Cooplestone DA figures. He has really cpatured the look of the Masai.

It certainly gives a very realistic effect!

I use sisal string on my bases, which isn't too bad, but not as good as your fur. Something to look out for next time I go shopping  :D

The plastic broom bristles are also very effective as spears. Happily our plastic broom "accidentally" broke in such a way that we will have to buy a new one   ;)  lol

Very nicely done.

I had the entire collection of Masai from Foundry sitting in my lead mountain for several years, and eventually, regrettably decided I was unlikely to ever get round to painting them, so sold them on eBay at a knockdown price  >:(

Every time I see someone else's nicely painted Masai, I bitterly regret my decision.
Such nice and evocative figures.

Ho hum...  ::)

i know, i know, this is an old Topic but i have to reboot all the pictures from my old topics on the LAF !

My pictures ' web host , Imageshack, stop the free storage and they delete my account if i don't pay a subscription...... :'(
So all my topics are down, with all pictures masked !

Now, it'll better for the newcomers to see this topic as it was in 2009.

Cheers
