I need a 1:48 German WW1 plane for a diorama I am planning. Grateful for any advice on the best option based on Price/quality. Thanks!

Fighter? Bomber? 2-seater? Quality-wise, the best are probably Eduard's and, if you get their Weekend Editions, usually a decent price, too.

Thanks for your response. The type does not really matter, I will use it as a grounded aircraft with the pilot defending it. I have a SMER kit. Would you say that Eduard is better value?

I would definitely go with Eduard, I have built several for gaming projects, they asse mble relatively easily and are beautifully and crisply cast, and although they cost a bit more they are well worth the extra.

You could look at Copper State Models:

http://www.amug.org/~copperst/main.html

Some nice looking kits available.

Planet Models:

There are the Rumpler CI and CIV available plus some others, but you would need to peruse.

Best wishes,

Let's put it this way...SMER's D.H.2 model? It's a re-release of the old Merit kit.  Merit folded as a company in the late 1950's! Eduard's? 2005.  Nuff said?
