And I think the Corgi Barnstormers are 1:72 so probably too small - from my quick search.

I think you're probably right about Barnstormers being 1/72, they do look small. I found one reference saying 1/48, but I'm guessing that's incorrect.

David, there are these die-cast biplanes (1/48):

There is a Grumman Goose Amphibian monoplane in 1/48 which is supposedly a 1938 model.

Morning David, I didn't want to say anything until I had actually looked
through my 'stock' ,& you know how chaotic that is, but I have found
not one, but two possibles for you.
a) Fiat CR32 Freccia
b) Ryan PT-20 Trainer.
Both are 1/48th unmade kits.
The Ryan kit can be made as either landplane or floatplane (with  a
ground handling dolly)

Of any interest to you?

Hopefully catalogued and sorted in suitably historical order!

Looking for something else in my garage, I came across three lion statues I’d forgotten I had.   As I’m making a small bit of escarpment, I may as well paint these up to use in the sands too.   I think I will keep these unbased however for multiple uses….

Indeed!

Painted up along with a small escarpment piece.

Unfortunately now, I’m starting to realise I want to expand the dig site!   Must start looking for some larger scenic pieces…….fish tank models etc…….oh dear…

A trio of Leonids, though not a meteor shower!  lol. (a bit soggy here today - perhaps to match the weather in London for the coronation, wife up at 2 AM local time to watch). Nice addition.

And for those who've never seen:

Curious where you sourced your blooming palm trees?  Probably too big for me but still curious.

Just had a -very quick - perusal of the whole thread (well, the photos, mostly) and note we've gone from jungle to desert.  Which has me wondering how far into the future before Digits makes a left turn and we see stuff for Back of Beyond type pulp in this thread?

So, have there been games in the jungle with reports I've missed somewhere?

Not yet truth be told…….I’ve not really had any game time with it at all! 😢

Things are looking up though….an old friend is down next weekend so we will be trying something out on here no doubt.

As for the palm trees…….I simply remove the palm leaves before painting the trunk.  Before I replace them, I pop a small bit of light coloured lichen on top of the trunk with a dab of superglue then glue the palm leaves back on to secure it.

You can say they are in flower sure…but I am also trying to make nod here to the twig like bundle often seen with date trees.  I was doing it from memory….but clearly could have opted for something a little more orange in colour…never mind, I can live with it.

Aw, accidental flowering palm trees, then!  No worries - but does give me a good idea how to do those brownish orange bits under the green fronds so glad I asked.  Except for neatly trimmed trees, almost always see that on palm trees, old decaying fronds mostly.  Will make them look more 'real world'.

Might not be quite as effective in 15 mm but careful choosing of lichen bits might help.  And soak them well in glycerin before using might help them drying out.  Tried spraying some in matte sealing spray and worked for a while but a rather short term solution.  Have to check one of my model railroad scenery books for the proper way to 'cook' the lichen in glycerin.

Hope you get that game in!  And photos, of course, please.   ;)
