No.76 - Oathbreaker (Dead of Dunharrow) GW Plastic

'The hour is come at last. Now I go to Pelargir upon Anduin, and ye shall come after me. And when all this land is clean of the servants of Sauron, I will hold the oath fulfilled, and ye shall have peace and depart for ever. For I am Elessar, Isildur's heir of Gondor.'

'Strange and wonderful I thought it that the designs of Mordor should be overthrown by such wraiths of fear and darkness. With its own weapons was it worsted!'

Well, I did it. The first figure I have managed to paint since my medical catastrophe of October 2018. It has been a difficult road, I can tell you. Not especially pleased with how it turned out, but there was a point when I thought I would never be able to paint again. Don't expect I shall ever again reach the heights of my LPL glory days, but it's a start and that is good enough. I'm back! A proper LAFer once more.  :)

For your first miniature in almost two years, let alone after physical issues... looks pretty good! Welcome back.

Well, that's a brilliant thing to see on a rainy Tuesday. He looks great Dylan and nice to see one of these looking a bit more grounded rather than all blue-green.

#77 - Giant Spider - Alternative Armies

DSCN0638 by Kieran Me, on Flickr
Sculpted by the Amazing Kieran Billings, he's so awesome. What a great guy (don't tell him but I'm sleeping with his wife, I think he might be on to me).
Based on a 50mm base.

Love that dead of Dunharrow model. Excellent paint job to match!

Yes, I was never all that keen on Peter Jackson's lurid green tidal wave of ghosts. A tad over the top, visually, for my money. They really are lovely figures, but you have to look past the disgusting sickly colours on the pictures on the box. I bought them to use as Norse Draugr, or wights, or something like that for Of Gods and Mortals, so I wanted them looking a little less ethereal.

Thanks for the comments, guys. This really has been a big deal for me. I feel emotional about it out of all proportion to the scale of the achievement (hehe, painting one damn figure lol).

Nice spider, beefcake! I hope my mother does not see that, she'll have a conniption, and I'll get an email saying "Dylan! There's a spider on the internet! Can you come and put it outside for me?" Luckily I don't think she browses LAF all that much.

This! That's a far more effective paint job than the glow in the dark green you usually see.

Nice spider too Kieran!
