Really nice, I think you really got the French uniform pattern right there. Looking forward to see more!

Those are quite nice but if I can offer a positive critique I'd say the camouflage pattern is a little too dense for the CE pattern, which along with the base colour is why it looks more like the US woodland pattern. Aim for more distinct, horizontally aligned bands of the green and brown. I find the best base colour is Vallejo Stone Grey, it's a very good match at this scale.

thanks for the tips, even if I don't think I'll do them again  lol

I'll try to "cheat" a bit with weathering, with dust on feet and legs. It should do the trick.

Concerning the color choice, stone grey looks a bit too green for my own taste. I always thought that french camo base was more khaki than green or grey :

It's not actually, it comes out a rather warmish brown-grey. Combined with the right grren and brown it looks perfect. I mixed and matched mine, based on photos and used some slightly more yellowy base to some.

The tactical vests are completed. I'm happy with the "washed OD green" look I obtained.

I also made some tests for skin (black and white) and for the AT4 "bazooka". I followed the 20mm "rule" painting only the nose, cheeks and superior lips.

Now I have to apply this process on the other minis !

White guys face are completed. Now I'm finishing the black guys. Here's some sample pics of the finished white skin. The small size pic is to simulate how it looks for real. I'm happy with the result, the minis are quite expressive !

Many thanks !

TOnight I painted the slings ! helmet sling, weapong sling, holster sling, etc...And I started to paint the weapons.

Well to be honest, I just started to paint the command group sniper weapon  lol

If my back hurts a bit less later, I'll continue painting tonight.

Last work for today,

I painted the shoes for all the minis, and had fun painting one of the sharpshooters of the command group.

Still some work to do on the weapon (highlights), wich is a french FR-F2 rifle, but the figure is almost complete. I didn't go too far in details since I've got about 40 other minis (not counting special forces or talibans) to paint  lol

I made the french left shoulder patch, it's nice but I'll spend TOO MUCH time on this, I bet  lol

The night pic colors are not bad, even not totally accurate. The OD green mesh is something I saw on real french army pictures. It's a good thing, since I didn't want to make a camo pattern for better "visibility" of the overall miniature.

The first 2 squads + command group should be finished this week end.

I'm impressed by these - the colours are nice.

Painting miniatures you have to adapt. First as you say the miniatures will be viewed at a certain distance, so you need to decide if you want to ensure they look good from 1m away or 10cm. Personal choice on balance. Second the smaller the scale, the slightly brighter the colours should be to not have the miniatures look too dark when on the table.

Thanks !

I finished this one. I painted the base and all, but I'm not happy with the base color. I'll do it again to match my new gaming mat.

EDIT : or maybe not. I took another look, and if the soldier's base color is lighter than my current gaming mat (dark earth), it make the mini a bit more visible too on the board. Moreover, I should be able to use this figure on a desert mat, grassmat, or mud mat,  with no much trouble.

I think if I match the figure's base (light earth) to the current gaming mat (dark earth) it will "darken" the mini too. The current mini's light earth-colored base give a nicer contrast, I believe.

Concerning minis painting process, I'm trying to find a good balance between details and fast painting. Including french force, vehicles, crews, and talibans, this project contains probably near 100-150 figures  lol

On these 20mm figures, the result is good on the gaming table, but also when you take a close look. I also tried to make them "readable" when the weather or light are not perfect.

Interesting scale, definitly ! Even if I'm not a fan of camo painting for sure  lol
