Tortugastra: A 15mm Wretched Hive
« on: 28 May 2020, 10:01:41 PM »
Been slapping together a new table for interior fights between my 15mm dudes.

Here's the floorplan, with some areas left unpainted, and the scatter terrain dry-placed prior to painting.

A close-up of the starport lounge and a rec area in a balcony.

Expect more updates in the coming weeks.  This will mostly likely see use with either the first edition of "Five Parsecs from Home" or "Void Pirates".  Those little light-trader crew games cry out for a space station for scenarios rather than the same woods my fantasy boys fight over, and pretty soon they'll have it.

Looks like a fun battleground.  Void Pirates is a great set of rules for that kind of skirmish.

Awwwww yeah! That whole setup is my jam. Great work. Love the little furniture details, and I'm going to have to try my hand at some of those!

Can you get some closer pictures of your other scatter bits? Planters, piled of boxes, etc? For that matter, closer pictures of each section would be appreciated in general!

Thanks for the encouragement, guys.  I'll get more pics up once I get some paint on the scatter terrain.

For now, I can show you the cargo area scatter that has been permanently affixed.  The boxes and drums are mostly just bits of balsa or dowel cut and capped with cereal box cardboard.  I salvaged them from a big spaceship that didn't quite work as gaming terrain.  Here's a shot of the old home:

I have a tutorial for the planter boxes up on the YouTubes:

Painting up the furniture now in one big block.  Once I get them all installed, will post more pics.  Here are a couple of close-ups of the landing/parking area.

The planter box with the weird alien cactus is the only thing not glued into place.  The big green machine in the smaller room is just bits of action figure (1/6 scale) guns and cannons glued into place.  The gray control boxes are wire Utilitech multi-wire connectors.  Cut off the raised ID marks molded into the plastic, and glue them holes down, and they make great vending machines/control panels at 15mm scale.  The trash cans are crimp sleeves.  (https://www.lowes.com/pd/Utilitech-Push-In-10-Pack-Multi-colored-Push-In-Wire-Connectors/999953378)

More great stuff! Those vending machines are terrific. That is a great re-purposing! How tall are they?

I don't have specific measurements, but that figure is a Ground Zero Games figure in 15mm.  It's a bit stunty, so probably close to 15mm even.

Say, this could work for that.  You'd have to use 15mm proxies like the Federal troopers from Khurasan.

More furnishings in place:
