10mm 8th army desert basing suggestions

I'm after basing colour recipes for 10mm desert troops.
My 28mm formula using yellow ochre will be far too strong for 10mm, so what colours have you used on 10mm (or 6mm) models?
Ideally no mixing and I've already applied sand, so no textured paint.

Any ides welcome.

I just leave them as sand!

I suppose it depends on the colour of the sand.  I sometimes apply a pale sand dry brush or add a few tiny specks of clump foliage

I used chinchilla sand - which is very pale. But I also applied it before priming, so it's covered in primer!

My 10mm Desert Rats have a mix of yellow ochre, natural sawdust, and a very little olive green here and there, with kitty litter boulders.

I can see how that might be a problem!

I’ve got a few acrylic craft paints in 60-75ml sizes that are called sand in two cases and one from Hobby Craft is called Iced Latte this is a slightly browner sand shade. All are a lot paler than yellow ochre.
