Aahh, Battletech...
It's been too long since I have dabbled in my own snail-paced project (in 15mm).
Those are some really great mechs, gentlemen. I am doing all of mine up from unseen model kits (although I'm scratchbuilding the Locust(s)), after some really, really arduous sourcing efforts. And then a lot of the mechs meeded to be 'biggerized' by adding spacers in 3 dimensions to each bodypart. Let's just say that was arduous too...

And then more and more excellently looking 3D printed mechs show up here, and I'm questioning my sanity (and glacial pace) every time, since I still have very little to show for it, after all of these years.
Maybe I should jump on that band wagon and give in to this 3D mallarky after all...
Oh, and to clarify: FASA obtained the rights to use the imagery of a whole slew of mecha designs in their Battletech game from the original Japanese IP owners. One of these was the Tomahawk, from the anime Macross, which was introduced in Battletech as the Warhammer.
Now, the plot thickened, when Harmony Gold obtained the rights to (amongst others) the Macross series, to be dubbed and released in the US as Robotech. So now there were two universes, with (some of) the same mechs in them, with different names.
Then HG sued FASA, as they claimed to be the sole owner of the IP of those anime (and therefore mecha) outside of Japan. This legal battle took years, had the anime inspired mechs from Battletech removed from any material (after which they were referred to by fans as the 'unseen') and eventually led to the downfall of FASA. HG later went after any other companies using the original mechs (or derivatives thereof).
But it appears that after decades of rabidly pouncing on anything Battletech, they got their own when they were finally found to be in the wrong, and possibly had been from the very start(!). Little good that does to the defunct FASA, but it's a moral victory nevertheless for Battletech.
The whole story is much more convoluted than that, but this, basically, is the gist of it.
So yeah; Warhammer!
