Infamous Civil Wars
« on: 21 July 2020, 12:39:53 AM »
I realize that Infamy, Infamy was designed for Roman vs Barbarian matches, but can anyone who has played comment on how the game would work for civil wars between Romans, or barbarians raiding each other? It seems like those might produce some entertaining games.

The game has been designed for the Roman Civil Wars too so yeah, go ahead. I think I remember Rich saying that they might be covering this in more detail later on in another book but there's no reason why you can;t do what you want with the lists that are contained within the book. Or, given some experience of playing the game, make up your own lists etc.

Wargames Soldiers and Strategy #107 actually has an AD69 scenario by none other than Richard Clarke himself, written with I, I in mind (WSS107 was published a few months earlier than I,I).  So I'd say that yes, certainly could be used for Roman Civil Wars, from no less a source than the big man hisself!

Thanks for the information, that sounds very promising. I’ll have to look up that issue of WS&S.

Hi Atheling
I just received my set of Infamy Infamy and have two forces ready: third centuryAD Germans and Romans. But they are late by two centuries from the official scope. What kind of issues may I have to deal with if I go on trying to use them?

I would be tempted just to use the Third Century Romans as Early Imperials against the Germans. I imagine that you have the A&A Miniatures range- they are beautiful and thus have earned the right to take the place of their ancestors ;) :).

I imagine there may be a home grown amendments out up by someone for the Third Century at some point. It might be worth joining the Too Fat Lardies Forum to keep abreast of any developments(?)

That's a good point!
I'll probably do it again... some years ago I spent time chatting with nice people there about Sharpy 2.

And yes I have the very nice AandA range... with lots of other much older pieces of ranges. I love the burly look of these miniatures, very compatible with the tough danubian guys they represent!
