You know, Alex ought to clip out the last two pages and post it to the WWI as "How to Get Hooked on Wings of War" so that those of us who have gone ga-ga for the game can keep it going.

Also then we can blame Poly for getting us hooked on it.

The B-Deck is included in the deLuxe edition, too. What about the collision rules? Are the4y worth a try?

The collision rules are an optional part of the altitude rules. I think if you don't use altitude then it is assumed that there are no collisions. You just fly under or over whatever your model is touching.

I used them in error, because we didn't use altitude, but it did add a little more challenge to strafing the balloon, and so I'm glad we did (but my opponent isn't!).

I think they are worth using, and make even more sense if you are using the altitude rules.

Too small I think for TAG unless you dont mind mixing them with Mongrel.

Height wise they are spot on with Mongrel a little more sturdy than the Mongrel ones but will fit in very well. Weapons are a little cruder, not by much but the RPG7 is noticeable, being  thicker. Overall I like them a lot. Only 12 in the range but 4 packs of 4 figures each with an RPG in the pack which is a nice re-enforcement for my Warlord

They do a pack of 8 casualties which are in resin and look like they have been normal figures postioned on their sides etc, not bad at all actually, good for markers or that booby trap in a game :lol

On a side note, I have had the best painting week for a long time with 3 tanks finished, 4 GAZ trucks and finished 24 Ruskis I have had lying around for months part painted :)

Do you mean TAG  sends our Frak mad or used to.

Hopefully I have broken the back of the Soviet Afghan war although I now have the 10th Rota to paint, The heli crew and stinger team.

I also picked up a pack of Mongrel Muj with rifles from e0bay for £2.63 which was a bargain so now have another 25 or so Muj to paint :D

I ordered my 3 pack of Muj tank riders, the first went into my Technicals whilst the second  became look outs sitting on stones etc, this third lot should round out the technicals and I am going to try and use them with the ZU23 AA gun as a crew of sorts.

As for Russians sheesh, stil have 3 packs of the Second release of Mongrels, the  10 characters and  3 platoons worth of the old Russians which Frank very kindly gave me when he gave up Mongrel.

Vehicle wise just the 3 BMD to finish and the Hind   but I think I will only giver it a bit of a dry brush and an oil wash to dirty it up at. Not the cracking airbrushing you are giving yours

that's a LOT :D

The basic paintjob on the hind is pretty good, but i had to take it apart for the crew anyway so i figured a repaint wasn't too much hassle.. how wrong i was ;)

Okay, bit of a WoW update here. I now have "Watch your Back." So at last I have a precious B Deck. Apart from that it was a bit of a waste of money. Got some new plane cards and stuff, but there are no extra rules. It has the same rulebook as "Famous Aces." (I should have remembered that, it does actually say in it that they share a rulebook).

So I would say definitely get "Burning Drachens" to anyone dipping their toes into this game. It has the complete rules (which the other two do not), plus the ground attack target cards, AAA cards and balloon cards. The only reason I can see to get "Watch your Back" is for the B Deck.  You do get the stats for a bunch of new planes, that's something I suppose. But as I am collecting the models that isn't really relevant to me (the models come with the cards needed to use them in the game). Stinks ever so slightly of rip-off to me, that. I really don't think the three boxes contain enough that is different from each other to justify them being three separate products. Ever so slightly Games Workshoppy there.

To be fair though, it seems you can download the B Deck and print it out yourself. I think I should have done that.

Useful consumer advice. That narrows down my decisions to *when * I shall buy it.

the new Askari Italians dropped through the letter box this morning. Very nice clean sculpts and castings. Even managed to get them all based and primed in my lunch break so hopefully will get them started over the weekend
