Question on French artillery colours(Italian Wars).
« on: August 30, 2020, 02:33:42 PM »
I just bought one of the Steelfist guns and crew.  There are barrels for both Imperial and French versions.  I know Imperial carriages were painted red and black but have no idea what colour if any the French used. Any info appreciated.

Not entirely sure exactly when this particular colour scheme evolved, but the Saxons definitely had black woodwork with brass (yellow) fittings from the late 17th Century past the Napoleonic Wars, and this combination is thought to date from at least the TYW era.

May I suggest mud? Consider the conditions during transport and use.
