Raglan's Modern Conflicts (Hollywood Style)

As a Latvian bridge protection team take over their stag from the night guards, a light mist lifts off the Narva river, inhibiting LoS to both the west and east banks. This is the beauty of Sundays morning, as you can cut up your wife’s best cushion before she comes down stairs for breakfast 😏🥳

The Russian airborne forces move rapidly and aggressively to neutralise the Latvian bridge  guard. As the final shots ring out, the mist lifts, revealing the initial success of VDU assault.

The Latvian’s counterattack attack surges forward but takes casualties from incoming fire as they enter the village surrounding the bridge.

As the VDU desperately attempt to hold the bridge and stem the Latvian counterattack whilst their reinforcements arrive, both sides deploy air assets to the fight.

With a concerted push, the Latvians wipe out all the Russian units left fighting on the west side of the river. The HIND pilot is subsequently ordered to target the Latvian drone at the earliest opportunity.

Bringing its nose cannon to target the enemy drone, the HIND Gunship scores a direct hit, bringing its target down in the cornfield. Russian MBTs begin to advance on the position, taking ground to provide them with good fire arcs into the village.

The Russian ground commander requested close air support in the form of a MiG 29, who effectively targeted the remaining Latvian AFVs. The position was deteriorating rapidly for the Latvians and NATO’s QRF were nowhere to be seen.

Despite the Latvian defender’s resilience, Russian heavy firepower was now taking an immersive toil. With its final run on the position, the MiG 29 pilot targeted the house overlooking the bridge, which unfortunately for Latvians contained their ground commander.

With Russian reinforcements converging on the position, the remaining Latvian defenders undertook a fighting withdrawal, content to save its units to fight another day. Russian primary objective secured plus NATO’s response was slow.

Definitely a fun and hard fought game with the Russians winning through by strength of numbers in the end. I used AI coplot to generate the scenario and will be exploring options to link this game to the next one on Saturday.
