Raglan's African Bush Wars (Hollywood Style)

50 ZANLA Infantry. Until about 1971, ZANLA's strategy was based on direct confrontation with the Rhodesian Security Forces, but from 1972 onwards, it adopted the guerrilla tactics that had been used with success by the Mozambique Liberation Front.

African Villagers. Any self-respecting Bush Wars collection requires civilians and villagers, as ZANLA often conducted operations against these types of soft targets.

3 Commando, Rhodesian Light Infantry. These lads were nicknamed the “Lovers”. They were the youngest Commando in the Regiment and the most Rhodesian. Four sticks of four guys in a troop with the callsigns: Banana One, Banana Two, Banana Three and Banana Four 🍌

If you are wondering why their callsign includes the word Banana, it’s because their badge had a banana on it. The stick leader has a back pack radio and an FN, one man carried a MAG and the other two blokes carried FNs, one had a muzzle attachment for a rifle grenade.
