Well you could probably get the use of either Old Trafford or Etihad in Manchester. Neither of the home teams seems set on using them to any particular purpose. Respective fan bases would probably welcome the distraction too. :D

Well, well, well.  Looks like you're all in.  I think we're all in for some interesting battle reports as time goes by...

That SCUD is just screaming to be the target of a SpecOps raid...

Cold War Gets Hotter - Russian T-80 MBTs, which are part of a combined arms battlegroup (1/50 scale resin cast models from Empress Miniatures). Can’t see these lasting long against NATO’s finest.

Nicely done. I know the Russians ditched that scheme a few years ago but it's a good choice as it really is a nice way of showing off the models and much better than boring Russian green and of course it keeps them just within the nominal cut-off of 2000 for this board.  ;)

Exactly mate, that was my line of thinking.

I do have some green ones as well, as I ran out of camo paint 😉

Hmm.  I wonder how my james Bond T55s would look with a similar paint job...

Those T80s look grand!

They would look uber cool. It's a late Cold War scheme after all, so totally modded T-55s might just have got it.

If you ever want photos of the scheme, google the Soviet departure from the former East Germany, circa 1991 to '94.

The other cool option is the sand and green scheme with little black squiggles, a sort of simplified three colour Soviet version of MERDC.

The sand blobs and black squiggles over Soviet green came into service in the very late 80's (88-89 possibly a touch earlier) and stayed throughout the 90's although, at some point, I think they lost the black squiggles. It's a nice camo to use if you want a broad period to play with.

Cold War Gets Hotter - Russian Motorised Infantry Platoon with BTR transports (28mm miniatures and 1/50 scale resin cast vehicles from Empress Miniatures). More target practice for NATO’s big guns.

Cold War Gets Hotter - The Russian BTR-80 Armoured Transporter is an 8×8 wheeled amphibious armoured personnel carrier designed in the Soviet Union and still used by the Russian Federation since 1986.

Cold War Gets Hotter - Russian BTR-80A. The vehicle has a 30mm gun and 300 rounds as primary weapon. The turret is equipped with sights 1PZ-9 (day) and TPN-3 or TPN-3-42 "Kristall" (night). In production and service since 1994.

A.  That motorized infantry, and their rides, look splendid!  But sorry about a partial hijacking of your thread...

B.  Speaking of which:   Yeah - that's the other color scheme I was considering for my T55AMs (in addition to the scheme that started this whole discussion...).  Hmm. I have 2 of the little buggers.  Maybe I'll do one each...
