28mm HäT French Légère: Quickshade Dipping, Review

As usual with single piece hard plastic HäT miniatures, proportions are excellent, better than the 30mm multipiece competitors, the heroic fatboy sculpts like Victrix. However relief is less visible, which can be countered with a more contrasting painting style. I combined Contrast Paint and Quickshade dipping to get this result. I speedpaint, therefore I am.

Very Nice result ..there is always the dilemma if French light infantry should be painted, as depicted in many iconic sources , in a light shade of blue or not..according to written sources their uniforms were made of the same cloth of the line inf. fusiliers uniforms..
In any case I prefer by far your interpretation and result

These look great. I have two boxes of these in the unpainted figure pile. Great inspiration to paint them.

When last I painted 1/72 plastic (fairly soft) I dipped them in Minwax (miracle dip). The varathane coat kept the paint from flaking off (as they did from Airfix if looked at too directly). The only casualty has been the tail of a Teutonic Knight's horse that broke off in combat, paint staying on both horse and tail. Seriously, spears and swords remain painted. The plastic figures saw several years of hard use before disappearing into the closet with the other lads awaiting rediscovery. What a fickle master they have.

I would be majorly surprised if they used any lighter shade of cloth for the light infantry. I was always under the impression that it was the same blue as on the line fusiliers?

Either way, they look nice. HäT are very tempting.
