Pretty sure all of these can be Future Wars, with a little creative stretching:

I painted him up using a picture of Dan Dare as reference.  There's no boilersuit here, but it seemed to work.  The jetpack was made using a crossbow and some Battlefleet Gothic engines.

Two Reaper archaeologists.  One day I will learn to paint flames that do not resemble meringue.

I'm planning a Halloween scenario for my Slipstream (Flash Gordon pastiche) game - This is what happens when one of the players did a lot of drugs in the 60s and took "believes in the Great Pumpkin" as a character quirk.

Yes, that's barbarian shrubbery.  Let the Python quotes commence, if we've not all grown out of that phase 10 years ago.

And an Ex-German WW2 Zombie supersoldier.  Of the future.

I really like the pink/purple metal effect on the backpack/gun. Is it just pink and purple washes over silver or is there another technique you've used?

Using all Reaper Master Series paints:
-Basecoat "Red Liner" over white prime
-not-quite-drybrush-but-close-enough "Honed Steel".
-not-quite-drybrush-but-close-enough "Polished Silver".
-Very carefully thinned Black Ink to define the lines, then a final touchup of silver to restore the shine.

Some nice stuff there. Really like the DD fellow.

On the flames try adding some black and dark greys to emphasise the shadows and create some contrast - looks fine as a meringue though to me.

Nice selection of figures. I think that the flame on the torch look fine…
I like the pumpkin too!  8)

Painting flames is weird.  I know it's accurate to paint the tips darker and the base bright, but I find myself thinking it should be the other way around.

At first I thought you used a clix on that Dan Dare but after looking closer I think that might be Reaper's new Raptor figure from Chronoscope.  Is that correct?  Nice work.  I picked up an extra to turn into Harvey Birdman at some point.

I too end up with the 'meringue effect' when I paint flames. I tried to do something about it once by convincing myself that the problem is the lack of smoke. I used cotton wool which I superglued to the torch flame, and then 'teased' into a tendril of smoke. The result? A smoking meringue. To be honest, though, I think yours looks pretty good, and Svenn's idea sounds like a good one - I'll try it the next time I'm painting meringues...I mean flames.
Lovely painting on all those models, and I love the idea of somebody having the 'Believes in the Great Pumpkin' quirk- excellent! It's even better that the Great Pumpking does, actually, exist!

Oh wow,man... too much LDS (deliberately messed up initials) will do that to ya, dude.  lol

I love them. You really need to go into detail on how you made these guys so I can make me some.

1.  Take the far left guy from here: http://www.reapermini.com/FigureFinder#detail/14087
2.  Cut between the fingers and the base on the hand that's attached to the base.
3.  Trim round the fingers to clear molding and such.
4.  Repose to taste.
5.  Add Weapons of Awesomeness.
6.  Paint.

And you bought 6 sets of familiars? Or did you somehow get them separate?

And what about the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown?

And some tips for miniature photography?  ;)

You can get individual bits from Reaper by e-mailing questions@reapermini.com or calling them.  I got mine by the ounce at Reapercon a couple years ago.

The pumpkin uses the legs and arms from one of the shrubs, a pumpkin out of Reaper's Jack-o-lanterns pack, and the raygun out of their futuristic weapons pack.

Dan Dare brought back some memories.

http://www.ovinebydesign.com/index.php/2008/04/02/dan-dare/

Dan Dare PC game for free downloading.
I checked the file out and found it clean, but just the same you might want to check it before running it on your machine.
