The Gliders bringing in the Airborne's anti--tank guns run into a disaster of the first magnitude! Strong winds and accurate ground fire scatters them close to the village. Two guns, one the big hitting 17pdr are hit by Panzerfausts skulking in the buildings and destroyed.
Amid the mayhem the Paratroops hit the their D/Z...
Lieutenant Colonel Harry Faversham VC, a Veteran of many a contested Bridge, use his hunting horn to rally the troops!
The Paras organise quickly and clear the D/Z. The second assault on the Bridge's south end goes in.
At the north end of the Bridge trouble is brewing in the shape of the 12th SS Panzers! Led by their CO, Obersturmbannfuhrer August Von Richter in person, they deploy rapidly and move toward the fight.
Two Fallschirmjager Officers have been attached to the Battlegruppe for liaison duties.
