Copplestone Gangsters rebased
« on: September 08, 2009, 05:45:46 AM »
Some of my Copplestone gangsters appeared in LPL3 looking like this:

I ranted against slottabases then, and said the gangsters were due for rebasing at some point. Well, I went on a general "improvement of existing figures" spree this weekend, and here's the current state of the same gangsters:

A bit of work with an Exacto knife on the plastic bases, a pair of pliers on the tab, and some knife-and-file work on the bottoms of their feet, and the gangsters are now on pennies, same as the rest of my 28mm figures. Much better than those damn slottabases!

Interesting discovery: American pennies have no rim around the edges like Canadian pennies do. This makes them even better for low-profile bases than Canuck pennies are! Next time I visit the Yanks I shall have to pick up a roll or three of bases from a bank!

Wow! I just spent the weekend doing the same thing! Copplestone gansters onto British 2pence peices. I used an electric finger file to remove the writing from the bases before bending them back and using filler. One of my Swell Dolls broke off, but she seems happy glues in place. They all look a lot better next to my Pulp and Artizan figures now.
I'm stock-piling those coins in case they get changed one day!

Yes, that is an improvement.  I may now be tempted to do the same thing to improve my "Pulp" Armies.  Thank you.
