Though there are no current crew or pirates using shotguns,

Not quite true.  Any model that would normally be armed with a carbine has the option to trade it in for a shotgun instead.  Trading 12" of range for +2 damage if you hit makes it a hard choice which to go with, but the shotguns will certainly pay off better in dense terrain like urban or starship corridor environs.

Must have missed that, where in the rules does it say that?

Here are the three security guards.

Here is the first Trooper built from the Stargrave Trooper sprue.

Combat Armour provides enhanced protection, and the Carbine provides the firepower.

Page 31, under the Shotgun description.  It's only +1 damage though, I was thinking Frostgrave crossbows.  :)

Sorry, I missed that, thanks.

I have not managed to assemble anymore yet (let alone starting painting).

It's easy to overlook.  Not the most obvious spot to stick a fairly important rule, at least when it comes to how you outfit your carbine-toting soldiers.

Moving on...

So most members of your crew cost credits, Runners and Recruits are however free (but probably not worth learning their names).

Runners are unarmoured, but being unencumbered move faster.

For consistency, three of them have the revolver arm (one each are supplied per sprue).

That one looks like a Cold Weather version of a United Federation of Planets away team kit.

The fourth Runner is from a second sprue.

Recruits are lightly armoured and again are armed with a pistol.

The choice of left arm is rather limited.

These are the bodies from one sprue.

Thanks.

I have also dug out the Maelstrom's Edge Broken I bought at Salute all those years ago (https://ultravanillasmurf.blogspot.com/2018/07/spiral-arm-studios-broken-infantry.html).

Comparison shot, Stargrave Mercenary, Maelstrpm's Edge Broken and a Stargrave Crew figure.

Looks like the Maelstrom's Edge figs are a good match.  Little taller maybe, but real people vary too.

I haven`t got any "official" figs but the maelstrom edge broken fit in well with the necro figs I am planning to use along with others  ;)

The Stargrave arms work well with the Broken figures (I have three or four figures using the Broken bodies and Stargrave arms undercoated).

The Broken weapons and arms are quite complicated, have a look here for a guide:

Won't be using the Northstar plastics but his Rogue Star metals are an excellent way to start imho, and and good pricing too. Always wanted to do something with generic old-school looking rogues, bots and aliens so this is as good an opportunity as ever. Got a few Alternative Armies rogues laying around somewhere and of course will be getting myself anything else for grabs, as long as it looks cool  :D.
