1st Corps Seven Samurai
« on: 07 May 2021, 08:02:06 PM »
Call me crazy but I realy like them, cartoonish but realy well put together with loads of detail

currently working on a set in greyscale but i'm looking for other models that fit

anyone know who culpted them and what else might fit - i'm thinking some of the Dixon line would be or or maybe the old citadel figures?
On the lookout for 10mm Magister Militum Fantasy figures, halflings and woodelves in particular

There are a small number of Dixon Ronin that match the 1st Corps Seven Samurai style, yes. Specifically the R01 to R06 group of figures.

Yes, a really cool set and makes it all fun. And those Dixon Ninjas do fit in well with them.  ;D

imo, the Dixon oni etc also capture the spirit of japanese illustrations / prints better than more modern 'better' sculpting'.

They do look cool

I was also wondering about old glory? I'm after some WAKO and they look skinny enough to be hard up pirates - but how are they height wise - they certainloy look maller than perry

anyone know who sculpted them

I think it was Mark Fuller aka Tin Shed Gamer. I have a bunch of the armed peasants and they fit nicely in style and stature with Dixon's stuff IMHO.

Your stuff is very cool, and certainly fit right in with Perry, Kensei, TOH stuff but they didn't realy work with the 1st corps minatures I have

You might also try Wargames Foundry.  Their Samurai are much older in sculpting style, and could fit with your desired aesthetic.

One of our club members has them, and I don't think they mix as well with Kensei/Warlord/Bac Ninh/others

Thanks, those are the old Citadel Samurai - I owned some of them when I was a kid but couldn't recall what the scale was like

will probably hunt one or two down before I commit

I've dusted off some Dixon & Citadel for a couple of games
(using Pikeman's Lament rules) pictures here,

I might even order some more figures, the Dixons are growing on me.

I was thinking that your Citadel one's were were to older one's there for a moment.I still have a few of the very early one's which were released.Still very nice sculpting on them for the time they were released.

Thanks guys. Most of the painting was done by a friend (Andy Taylor)
with whom I have unfortunately lost contact with.
The Citadel figures are mainly in the Ronin units. As they are
dramatic individual poses, I figured that was the nicest place for them.
