Have a few Fallout miniatures now but have not got my head around the game yet, especially for solo play - it seems a bit crunchier than I like to be honest.
Hence I fancied a game where I could send out mutants, humans and others to battle solo with a Fallout aesthetic.
My favourite versus game is the Fistful of Lead series and I've played quite a few games of Galactic Heroes but I wanted solo rules with a rudimentary AI to play against.
I've tried a few systems solo and have liked bits of each; like many others I've cobbled the bits I like together to see how it plays.
Basically I'm using the stats/characters and rules of Fistful of Lead with the following to guide my opponents:
Activation priority for the opposition is via the clever opportunity/threat method used by tereydavi of this parish in his Cthulu game Fear of the Dark.
I've dropped card activation for a blind bag draw of different coloured dice with a white one (drawn twice) signifying end of round - this gives a great 'fog of war' as you might activate all, some or none each turn as might the oposition; this mechanism was lifted from the Blood on the Blade game.
For behaviours I've put together some flow charts; currently using aggressive ranged, cautious ranged, smart melee and dumb melee - may add others later.
Had 2 games today getting across the field to a deactivated mech that could be activated byb passing a hard (8+) task roll.
Lost the first and won the second game, both were very close.
Overall I'm very pleased.
Apologies for the old mobile phone pics.
