Hurrah for the Nimbus!

Let's hope Col Stayhard can keep his pecker up and return to the fray  :-I

Further news arriving by the hour:

Unfortunately Colonel Stayhard VC has succumbed to his wounds after becoming involved in a duel with a high ranking Prussian officer. The Prussian also died in the fight, both men managing to run the other through. It was pure bad luck, we believe the Prussian used underhand tactics at the start of the duel by poking a stick through the spokes of Horatio's Penny Farthing causing him to become unstable and nearly fall off. Dashed bad form Eh waht?

Apparently the destroyed Japanese Aeroneff IJMS Kashima (the pride of the Imperial navy) was on its maiden flight.

It appears the incident was sparked by the recent rumours of an illict affair between our own Courageous officer Allan Farquar-Farquarson VC (hero of Shere Bridge and Kew) and the niece of the Japanese Emperor Miss Shiri Garu.

Images will shortly become available which I am sure dear reader will give a clearer picture of what is now unfolding in the East

This communique was intercepted and translated this morning. Although brief, I believe there is more to the encounter than meets the eye.

Most honourable Sir, I have bad news.

The niece of our most beloved Emperor Meiji, Shiri-garu, was taken captive by the treacherous British whilst she was on an excursion visiting dear friends and held in a small compound about 10000 chō (1193000yds) from the Chilli capital.

A small force was dispatched to try and negotiate a peaceful return of the royal personage but were fired upon without provocation!

The unfortunate news being that the IJMS Kashima was lost with all hands and the diplomatic party have not returned.

This cannot be left unavenged and action must be taken before the British decide to take over the whole of China as they seem to have a tendancy to do with the rest of the world. Who knows, maybe they will turn their eyes to our blessed islands.

Your obedient and humble servant...

Opening views of the situation. Brits in the compound and village and the Prussians and Japanese ready to cross the bridges

The dastardly Farquar leading Shiri-garu astray

The Japanese storm the bridge

The Prussians attempt to cross the river but are held at bay by Bengal lancers (there's a first time for everything  ;) )

The Japanese suit Garibenkun is first into the compound...

But it doesn't last long...

The lancers make short work of the first Prussian wave but get a bit skittish and soon run away (possibly the view of more Prussians on the horizon put the willies up them)

The Japanese infantry storm into the compound after taking heavy casulties

The HMS Nimbus arrives (eventually  ;D ) and takes down the Kashima after a brief gun battle  :'(  :'(

The last struggle in the compound ended up with the Japanese taking out most of the opposition but at the expense of everybody apart from the suit Majimekun who seemed to go into overdrive, shrugging off bullets left right and centre to get the Emperors neice back, but eventually he succumbed to the British and Shiri-garu remains in the hands of the Brits (slut!)

A very enjoyable game and thanks to everyone who took part  :)

Japanese                                                                - Me
Prussians                                                                - Thunderchicken (but without his counterpart  ;) )
Brits in the compound                                               - Svennn
Brits out of the compound (and the bloody HMS Nimbus) - Malamute

cheers

James

Poor Japanese getting beat up by the big imperial boys. :'(
Shouldn’t get involve in affairs (  ;)) of state.
I am extremely jealous, looks like a really good game. :-* :-*
Some lovely figures and terrain :-* :-*
Any chance of a close up of the Japanese infantry?
Have you painted these in the last few weeks, along with every thing else you have been doing and showing us on the forum?
What have you used for the clanks?  :-*
Have you got some close up pictures of them as well?
Have you done these recently as well?
If so, I think you must have a couple of clones to produce this much quality stuff. :o

What rules did you use?
Great report, thanks

Dear reader,

We must protest at the allegations made in the above communique.

Miss Shiri-garu was not kidnapped by the gallant Major Farquar-Farquarson VC. Indeed she has indeed willingly enjoyed his company for some time, some say intimately, however we are not at liberty to discuss the personal lives of our brave officers in the field.

The attack on the compound was not provoked, the first shots were actually fired by Prussian troops. The Japanese made no attempt at a diplomatic resolution and quickly attacked the compound.

Were it not for the quick thinking of Her Majesty's (Gaud Bless 'Er) loyal troops then the province would no doubt be in the hands of these dangerous oriental fellows. The very future of the Empire is at stake.

Superb job, chaps.  :) Honestly, to think that some liberalists these days believe that vast swathes of the Orient should be governed by Orientals! Obviously their minds have been weakened by the modern fads of vegetarianism and hatlessness.

I love the terrain, it makes the stuff I'm putting together for BLAM look most inadequate. Jolly well done.  :-*
