Eureka Raptory thing
« on: 15 September 2009, 12:00:28 PM »
Eureka sent me through a heavy set raptory looking dinosaur simply labelled 'Dinosaur.' Experts will no doubt pick it straight away as something in particular.

Here it is pictured on the left with a Ral Partha wench in the middle with an excellent Reaper raptor on the right.

The piece comes in 6 parts: 4 sepearate legs, 1 body and a base.
Overall length tip to tip 90mm height 40mm approx

The one on the right looks fairly like a Deinonychus (the Spielberg velociraptor). The other looks like a cross between an allosaur and a deinonychus.
They're both way too big for deinonychus

The one in the middle I can't identify. But that could just be me.

The one in the middle appears to be a Ral Partha damsel in distress, though missing the two rock spires and bit of chain that added the "stress" part to her dis.

Utahraptor on the right!  Sweet!  Discovered a few years after the JP movie was made, almost validating the artistic liscense (since velociraptors are about knee-high).

The one on the left is funky, like a raptor and allosaur had a baby.

Nah, the one on the left is Barny in combat mode, (pretty poor sculpt if you ask me).

Now I've seen better raptors somewhere, I'll need to have a think on....

Tamyia 1/48 scale plastics are very nice if memory serves.

The old HLBS "Mongolian Raptors" are very cool - lots of character. I only got one pack - three of the beasties - before HLBS ditched the dinos, and am now kicking myself... Apparently Copplestone have all the HLBS dino molds and masters, hopefully they bring out HLBS' raptors, as they're much nicer (IMO) than Copplestone's own raptor sculpt.

I ran my three HLBS raptors back in LPL3 Round 2, where they got slaughtered (and deservedly, it's a shoddy picture and I've since significantly touched up their paintjobs...)

Hey, Wirelizard; where'd you get your pachycephalosaurus?

Hey, Wirelizard; where'd you get your pachycephalosaurus?

Also HLBS, therefore also currently unavailable.

I just had a look through the Wayback Machine, too, and HLBS' former online catalog was never fully archived by Wayback far as I can tell. Pity.

I have 2 pachys, 3 Mongolian Raptors, 2 Trodon, 6 Mini-raptors, 10 Compys, 2 Dwarf Allosaur, and 1 Styrachosaur. It's more than enough dinos to get adventuring types in trouble, but I do wish for some more Mongolian Raptors.

The Styrachosaur starred in Round 10 of LPL3, and did much, much better than the raptor/pachy group had done!

I wish evolution would make me grow a head plate like that. Then I wouldn't have to wear that silly looking bike helmet anylonger...

I like the reaper raptor, and don't mind if the Eureko one looks a bit too "generic", it is realistic enough for me

I have the I-kore raptor riders and complemented them with GW-catachans on Tamiya raptors.

Does anyone now why Copplestone ditched it's own raptors?

I would like to know if CC and HLBS raptors are bigger than the Reaper ones?

If Copplestone ditched his perhaps he's making preparations for the HLBSC ones to go up in the nearish future?
