Sugar Islands 1759 "Guadaloupe"
« on: August 10, 2021, 01:57:42 AM »
Inspired by Stuart Insch, I ran the Battle for Madame Duschampes Plantation. 1759 Guadaloupe French vs British.

Using Tricorn lll, w/random event cards, I ran this at the SYWs' Con, just completed.
Both games were very competive, but the British cream always rises to the top. French militia w/ Freemen Battalions, Freebooters and 2 Companies of Swiss. British had Royal Marines, the 42nd, Naval Landing party and 3 regular BNs.

What a lovely spectacle and a fine collection of troops.  I like the priest haranguing the French and then the fellow with the dogs keeping the freedmen in line.
Now what is this whole life of mortals but a sort of comedy, in which the various actors, disguised by various costumes and masks, walk on and play each one his part, until the manager waves them off the stage?

Hello!

Wow Juergen, you really gave it some justice there. What an excellent table and figures!

Glad you enjoyed the scenario. Would you mind if I cross posted on my blog? There's a scenario there you might like to try too

Juergen --

Can you share the sources for the British and French figures? I know the natives are from Trent.

Thanks

Chuck

I really enjoy that scenario. I've run it twice now using Sharp Practice.  Just ran another game based on the Guadaloupe Outpost assault at our Hostorical Game Day.
Stuart's book is highly recommended for those looking for a different setting for 7YW battles

Lovely games and pics.  Just lovely.  I too see that the Frenchies had their priest in tow.  "In nomine patris et fili et spiritus sancti..." 8)

Not sure I'd have wanted to be in that French battalion facing those Highland Laddies and those grenadiers, though.... ;)

In any event, well done!

Great table anyway  :)

Very nice game.

Between your posts, and mluthers 15mm Sugar Islands posts, I'm really liking the Sugar Islands' action as a gaming option.

Looking forward to more posts.
