Will Perry + Victrix mix well enough?
« on: August 12, 2021, 09:21:51 AM »
Bit of an odd combination, but does anybody know if the Victrix Vikings will scale well enough with the Perry medievals? I assume they're close enough but I don't want heads looking too big/small.

 Thanks.

Check here and below for a discussion of the same topic.

Are you kitbashing or just using them side by side?

The Victrix figures are quite a bit bigger, but I think you can just about get away with their heads on Perry bodies, given the amount of hair and an acceptance that plate armour can be quite close-fitting.

I'd agree with Hobgoblin above, a little tricky to combine. Victrix heads would look ok on Perry bodies, but not the other way around. Weapons can be swapped around, but be aware that they cut the arms in different places. Perry work with seperate full lenght arms, Victrix mostly work with cuts at the elbow or just below.

Height are close enough, especially between the Agincourt range and Victrix, that you could use them in the same army well enough.

I all depends on what you are aiming for.

Our very own Captain Blood did come amazing kitbashed Middle Earth Orcs which can be seen here (as you asked this question in the Medieval section I'm guessing that this is not what you are looking for, but, these are so skillfully done they are worth looking at again):

In as far as mixing Victrix with the Perry stuff for Early Medieval (you certainly aren't looking be going much further then the 11th CE?) I would say, yes to weapons (they may need some modification) but no to mixing the body parts.

I would ove to be proved wrong so why not give a few models a test drive?

Height wise, I can discern no difference.
A little more bulk on the Victrix but I would be happy to mix these.

Exodus 1:10 KJV
Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.

That was my point really, the Victrix stuff is noticeably bulkier then the Perry stuff.

Thanks for these references, both are great, the heads on the Perry bodies are precisely what I wanted to see compared. I'm actually looking to combine the two kits to make a retinue inspired by A Song of Ice and Fire but figured the question would serve better here considering the two kits I want to use, so the orc post linked is perfectly fine, I like his work a lot.

Thanks for the picture, that's exactly the comparison I was looking for. I think if I'm smart with the combinations it won't be too noticeable, as head/hand swaps will be a majority of what I wanted to do.

Appreciate the insight! That's essentially my plan, so I think it will turn out well enough.
