Didn't plynkes do something similar with skulls in one of his extravaganzas, or was that the elephant poo episode?

Very cool! The tribesmen units look to be huge.

The 2 spearmen units had 25 miniatures each.  The warriors numbered 20, the achers 18 and pygmys 13.  I used virtually all the painted miniatures I had. (Just under 700 points)

This appears to be a great battle. Are those skulls on stakes something you made? I am thinking about buying some from Lance & Laser.

Fairly simple & cheap to make: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=7318.msg81351#msg81351

Wow, I think those look much nicer than the ones I was looking to purchase. Thank-you for the close up. I just might give this a try.

Overlord, would multibases suit the rules for natives? I'm thinking of 3 models on a 60mm round base combined with single based figures. It would make handling such big units much easier.

Although the rules state individual bases, you could use multibases.  It would be better suited to native type armies as they tend to suffer larger numbers of casualties (at least mine do!) to fire combat.  It would limit you on movement, closing up/spreading out etc

For melee you match up figures to determine how many opponents any individual is fighting.  Not impossible with multibases, but less easy.

The new "Death in the Dark Continent" rules by Chris Peers use multiple figure bases, but I havent seen the rules yet. Others might be better able to comment.

I have the new rules but they are made with bigger forces in mind. I like the size of games "in the Heart of Afrika" provides but always dreaded to move 20 men units on the table. Multibases could help to cut the number of native bases by 50% so much less work for the player.

Thanks for your oppinion!
