New Book - Hammer Glamour
« on: 24 September 2009, 10:20:52 AM »
As this subject keeps rearing its head on a variety of threads, I thought a few of our more discerning gentlemen may be interested in the following new publication:

Almost half price on Amazon at the moment!

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hammer-Glamour-Marcus-Hearn/dp/1848562292/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1253783393&sr=1-1

Was reviewed in the latest SFX magazine and is reputed to be very good (and not just the pictures!).

Form an orderly queue now, gentlemen, I'm sure there's enough to go round.

Just nicked this bit off the product description:

"...including Ingrid Pitt, Martine Beswick, Caroline Munro, Barbara Shelley, Joanna Lumley, Nastassja Kinski, and of course Raquel Welch (who can forget her fur bikini in "One Million Years B. C."?)."

Quite!

How could you resist a list like that one?   ;)

Just got 'Memories Of Hammer' basically all the Fanex interviews with just about everyone (living, dead...undead) from Hammer. Not a bad read but a little bloodless...this looks like somthing I could really sink my fangs into!!!  :P ::)

The mere fact that the stunning Madeline Smith adorns the cover in such sultry fashion unfortunately had me spraying the monitor with a mouthful of coffee (I wrote coffee) and then running to the DVD collection to find The Vampire Lovers.  I've had my eye on this one for a while and will doubtless treat myself at some point...

Who are we talking about? There seems to be a young lady involved and presumably very dear to you gentlemen's hearts.

Bloody hell; I'll have to buy a new monitor at this rate.  Yes, that be the filly, although I wouldn't be too sure on her present condition (*sigh*). Mind you, trivial factors like old age et cetera haven't stopped me in the past, so...

Young Maddie's best remembered Hammer performances were in The Vampire Lovers, alongside a frequently naked Ingrid Pitt, which for obvious reasons I heartily recommend - along with the other Karnstein Trilogy films (better not go there; you really don't want me to start slavering over the Collinson twins of Twins of Evil fame as well) -  and Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell which is likewise advocated.  I'm a member of British Horror Films forum, so I must admit I find this crossover of topics a little strange...

Better have one more for luck, I suppose:

That was a jest, incidentally.

Young Maddie's best remembered Hammer performances were

She was also in the rather poor "Up Pompeii" film with Frankie Howerd. The redeeming scene was the one of her in the bath, however  ;)

She also appeared briefly in the opening scene of Live And Let Die - you know, the one with Bond's magnetic watch and a blue dress  lol

Strangely she was never nominated for an Oscar  :?
