... various interesting insights...
I have made buildings before out of sheet styrene, MDF, foamcore and other materials and each time I am a little unsatisfied with how they go together. I like how well a laser cut kit fits together perfectly, all angles are correct and joins tight; and how the window and door openings are exact and even. I could have built the building from scratch but I would never get that precise a fit or to do so would have taken quite a bit more time. Assembling the kit was very quick and in the time I waited for it to arrive in the post I got quite a few miniatures painted.

In my ideal hobby world, the basic structure would be MDF and all details including windows, doors and associated trim would be resin, plastic or metal. I am toying with getting my own laser cutter actually, then I could do my own buildings and design them to take premade or 3D printed windows and doors. A guy could go quite nuts!

Having said all that, I think my next building might be scratchbuilt.
