Empress Indian Mutiny - this year’s project
« on: 01 January 2022, 06:56:38 PM »
I’ve been slowly building up Indian Mutiny forces “on the side”. as I’ve worked on other periods but this year I’ve decided to make it my “main thing”. I’ve been painting up a few units and have used the incredible talents of Gary Shirley to add a lot more. To help plan, a get my mojo going, I put out in a tabletop what I already have … it’s very clear I need to get a lot more Mutineers painted!

Lovely work on such beautiful miniatures.  :-*

The depth of detail in the Iron Duke range is sub;lime; it has to be one of the best researched ranges of miniatures currently available.

Cheers all.. a lot of credit must go to Gary Shirley who has (and will be!) painting a lot of the figures here! I’m restricting myself to the simpler mutineers, baggage, oxen, terrain etc given my own painting skills!

Re Aetheling’s comments - fully agreed! The quality of Mike Snook’s research (and Paul Hicks’ sculpting) really shows. Although I am a tad biased (Paul at Empress is my regular wargames  opponent and, for complete “disclosure” I sponsored the ECW range although I have no commercial interest) one of the great joys I get from using any Empress range is the quality of research, design and casting. It really is a golden age for figure ranges isn’t it?

Sweet! Love those skirmishing Highlanders. Have always liked that one-off look they sported during the Mutiny. Some very interesting uniform variations in this conflict that you just don't see anywhere else.  :)

Indeed. We talk sometimes about the "greying of the hobby" but on the other hand we have never had it so good. almost everything we can think of is available somewhere in some scale- yeah, there are a few gaps but they are growing smaller every day.  8)

Absolutely beautiful collection! I’m intrigued by the period and thoroughly impressed with this range. Great painting and basing.
