The Lost and the Damned and Inq28
« on: January 01, 2022, 07:15:36 PM »
Hello all, and Happy New Year.

In December 2019 I invited some friends to start a campaign of The Lost and the Damned, a GW supplementary game from the early 2000s.  We set forth with great enthusiasm, but none of my friends paints, and with my characteristic slow rate of completion, it is only now, about a year later, that I have been able to complete some of the warbands.  So I thought I'd share them with you fine folks.

Lost and the Damned appeared as a downloadable word document (!) on the Black Gobbo section of the GW website that existed for a while many years ago.  The game is set on a Daemon World in the Eye of Terror, and each participant takes on the role of a traitor marine and aspiring champion, recruits a small warband, and battles rival warbands.  With victory, the warband grows, and the champion comes closer to ascending to daemonhood. However, recruitment is randomized, so one acquires a motley band of followers, beasts, mutants, etc.  Equipment is often rudimentary and ammunition limited.  And since the Ruinous Powers are fickle, advancement comes with risk: your champion might turn into a Spawn or lose all his chaotic blessings.  The rules themselves are a mishmash of Warhammer and 40k.  I'm happy to pass along - just PM me.

Here is the first, and only complete, warband, a Tzeentch force with a hint of Ancient Egypt.

Aspiring Champion with counts-as chain weapon and bolter, frag grenade, and Tendrils of Tzeentch (allows reroll of 1 spellcast), and a chaos beast.

Sorceror with shield

5 beastmen with great weapons:

Chosen Knight and mounted marauder with flail on screamers (mounts all have the same stats)

I am very happy with the color patterns on the screamers

Hope you enjoy them.  This game is really a modeler's dream.

Next up, another friend's heavy metal Slaanesh warband.
Now what is this whole life of mortals but a sort of comedy, in which the various actors, disguised by various costumes and masks, walk on and play each one his part, until the manager waves them off the stage?

That is a great looking warband.

The Lost & The Damned was in Black Gobbo issue 4:

Although the rules and tables are available there the roster sheet is missing (as sadly are the image Galleries)

Spectacular colours. So vivid and ancient Egyptian looking with a sorcery almost sci-fi appeal. Well done!! Thanks for sharing such splendour!!

That's an interesting campaign premise, and a very nice and cohesive warband.

This is the one! I had no idea Black Gobbo could still be retrieved on the internet.  Thank you.

I am nearing completion of the Slaanesh warband but am a bit stuck with the last four conversions (beastmen with blunderbuss), so in the meantime I thought I would share some of my Inq28 work, bit by bit.  Here are some of my older models from about 8 or 10 years ago.

Some armed gangers, thugs, duellists, etc:

A few imperial citizens: servitor, laborer, street-corner physician (he does medicinal bleedings with his syringe)

A foppish but accomplished trophy hunter

Inspired by the wonderful Blanche illustration:

The "skull-slinger," mysterious gun-slinger of the underhive

And his nemesis, the Collector

More to follow.

I really like ythe way you paint your miniatures, they look great! But why don't you paint the edges of your bases? A simple black edge would improve the impression very much in my opinion.

Yes, it's a good point, sometimes I am lazy with the rims.

Here is an Imperial official from a few years ago:

I think my painting for this semi-Blanchitsu style has improved since them.

A more recent Ecchlesiarchy relic-bearer, made from a Nurgle sorceror:

And someone I am quite pleased with, a penitent or preacher:

The image on the banner is from El Greco's Madonna of Piety

Best regards!
