Covid self-test for Sci-Fi terrain element?
« on: February 01, 2022, 08:02:48 PM »
I have recently used a covid self-test (still negative as you can see, it's upside down on the pic) and I thought it would be a shame to put it in the bin.

It could be used as some sci-fi machine, radio, or vehicle detector, etc. (28mm figures for scale). I'm thinking about it...

Great idea, with the right paint job it could be some kind of Necron scanner construct thing... :)

I saw something similar in Wargames Illustrated so have started saving mine too, much to Mrs Doodler's amusement. Should make for some nice horizontal wall panels.

Some years ago, a VERY left wing friend (UK) started keeping
leaflets from the Conservative Party. This was a BIG worry to his,
also very left wing, partner. Only when she later saw the Torch logo
from them on banners for his Undead army did she relax. lol lol lol

The deposit recess does look a bit like a speaker cone on this particular tester; there are possibilities there...

Also; we have loads of these lying about right now, so I might have to scrounge 'em all up and see what I can do with them  :D

I bought one the other week that came with an ultraviolet torch to view the results. Weird but I'm keeping the torch. I think the Christmas cracker theme of odd gifts is one other manufacturers would do well to copy.

Looks at line up of used LFT with evil thoughts for new scenarios. :-)

They do look a bit speakerish now you mention it. Hmm, Woodstock, Glasto or Playboy bunnies at a firebase?

I’m glad it’s not a used pregnancy test.

The negative result would mean that I'm not pregnant.  ::)

BTW someone suggested that players could be unhappy to have such a thing on the gaming table. Of course it would be dipped in some disinfectant, javel water or so, etc. before cleaning and priming and painting.

I do agree they could look somewhat Necron-ish. But speakers are also a viable idea.

Alternately, if horizontal they could be hull wall sections in an internal spaceship layout (porthole + terminal/decoration)
