How do you do the conversion from the stat line? I’m a 2d6 based rules fan so would love to know your system!
Sorry, missed this. I'm a simple chap so a simple hack.
The 2d6 works well with AHQ as it's already d12 based system.
For my quick sessions I really concentrate on just a room or two.
Activation is by dice blind drawn from a bag - each monster has a dice and the heroes 2 each so they can discard the first drawn if desired to wait for a better opportunity. All monster dice are the same colour and the most threatening are activated first and each hero has a different coloured dice. There are also 2 more dice of a further colour that act as the famous Two Fat Lardies Tea Break mechanic. First of these drawn is a warning the end of the combat round could be near and the second drawn instantly ends the round (so there is no guarantee that all models or even just a small few will activate each round).
This is all geared to solo play to add friction.
When in combat each model rolls the 2d6 and uses the normal combat chart and each can suffer wound rolls if the to hit score is reached ( there is no such thing as a one sided fight imo - there should always be some jeopardy).
When outnumbered the picked on model is disadvantaged but only one hit is counted but of course there are more chances to hit - do try not to get outnumbered, it is a bad thing.
Advantage and disadvantage adds an extra dice and the highest or lowest is discarded according to type. These modifiers are situational so at the players discretion (outnumbered, surprised, higher location, fear, dazed, etc).
2 on 2d6 is a fumble and 12 a critical. A fumble leads to disadvantage in a subsequent combat and a critical is normal extra damage.
That's about all really.
