Dragon Rampant Action Shots
« on: 22 March 2022, 08:49:48 PM »
I don't really have anything new to add to the Dragon Rampant conversation.  Just thought I'd show the gang a few shots of my set up.

Before starting, I went ahead and built at least one fully realized army.  These guys are the Broman Empire.

For opponents, I have managed to cobble together another 3 or 4 armies out of my mixed bag of 15mm miniature collection.  That collection was built for D&D and skirmish games, but the flexibility of DR lets me do some repurposing.  Here is a group shot of an undead army.

And a fun little action shot:

Whoops, forgot one of the action shots of a fight between these armies. I am really enjoying the sweeping nature of these fights.  I'm getting way more back and forth and jockeying for position than in most fantasy mass battle games.  It just hits a lot of sweet spots.

And I might as well show off the odds-and-sods pressed into service for the Demon Prince Hierocuest:

And the Dragon Lord Rojos DelFuego:

Love the giant skeletons towering over the battlefield.

Yeah, I really like the photo from behind the giant skeleton about to throw that  boulder; a couple of those knights might end up like bowling pins. :D

The latest army takes the field.
An all-mounted force of goblin nomads, with a unit of wolf Lesser Warbeasts to round things out.

And an action shot of their Elite Riders getting thrown back over a bridge by a human Elite Rider unit.

This was a one-off played against my nine-year-old daughter, and won't appear on the channel.  We tried to play uwing two failed activation before passing play and it worked okay for kid games.  Kept the action moving pretty good.  I think removing the wild swings makes the game play worse - less drama - but it made a big difference in her enjoyment.

More shots of and thoughts on the action available here: http://jonmollison.com/2022/04/03/dragon-rampant-action/
