Black Powder Question
« on: April 09, 2022, 04:56:44 AM »
Hello
Quick question on the Black Powder Rules.
Can a unit do closing fire if they are shaken?
The negative to hit  for shaken just seems like not much of a penalty because it’s plus one for short range so you hit normal really.
Or are we getting that wrong?
Thanks Pete

we play that shaken units can close fire BUT closing fire can only be given if unit was MORE than close range when the unit was charged. In other words Closing fire is delivered at normal to hits (ie 4+) so therefore closing fire by a shaken unit would be 5+

I like the idea of not being able to use closing fire if the enemy begin the charge at short range. May add that one too.
But my mistake in the original post closing fire is a plus one simply because it’s closing fire. Nothing to do with the range.
The 3 pluses are short range, closing fire , skirmishers in that line.
We only play BP among ourselves so I guess we’ll just add in a rule that shaken units either can’t perform closing fire or can’t get the bonus. We were just curious if we were missing something.
Thanks
