"Here comes Johnny Reb!"

Well its taken four months but its done...

The army is pretty much finished now, only 2 mounted officers and four more guns to do (oh... and a siege train) but its as near as finished in my book!

268 Infantry
24 Cavalry
8 Guns (with four more to do!)

Wow! Very nicely done.
What rules are you using?
And are the boys in Union blue already done?
Jane! Stop this crazy thing!

We are using Guns At Gettysburg for rules...

Thankfully my mate is doing the Union army... He has about 250 infantry and six guns finished, with another 100 infantry and six more guns to do... Plus a few horses!

:-* That’s an impressive army and a really well painted one.

It look like Colonel Joshua Chamberlain now serve in the Confederate army (5th picture from the top)…  ::)

Jolly good show! Bloody impressive indeed! Only four months?! I'd paint about 50 figures in that time if I really stuck to it...
Who are the figures from?
I told you so. You damned fools.

Yer... Started painting in June. Painted a fair few other bits as well as these, but I really wanted this army finished by Xmas as its my first 'proper' 28mm army.

Figures are from Perry, Redoubt, Renegade, Foundry and Sash & Sabre.

Very well done. Are the red gun carriages based on a real unit, or just done for effect? It is a great way to spice up the color scheme.

1st Rockbridge Artillery. They used the guns from the VMI that had red carriages.

Well, despite being a bunch of dirty rotten traitors;), you did a hell of a job with them V. That is one sharp looking army. Well done. I particularly dig the VMI artillery carriages.

Thanks V. I didn't know that about the Rockbridge unit! Also, curse you V! I spent a lot of time last night fingering my neglected pile of unpainted Sash and Saber ACW figures instead of working on my current projects.  ;)

That's a spectacular army. It's always good to see a superbly painted Confederate unit and to have so many in one place is wonderful  :-*

Even though I love ACW Zouaves, it's actually refreshing to not see them represented. They were only a very small proportion of the South's forces, after all.

I am another who had never heard of the red gun carriages before, so it's a very useful piece of info to have learned.
