DBA Punic Wars.
« on: 20 May 2022, 07:43:35 PM »
My friend Vodkafan & I managed to squeeze in FOUR games
of DBA today. Nice to have a matched pair, it pits two distinct
armies against each other.
Games 1 & 2 was terrain set up by me, while Flatpack designed
it for games 3 & 4.  We also got to try both armies on each terrain.
Nice to roll the dice, move interesting troops around.
There was even time for an after action discussion for each 'battle'.
I was very lucky on several occasions, including an odds defying
throw for two cornered Numidian light cavalry, which robbed James
of a deserved victory.

Game One.

Good to see you both got some games in Pete.
What's happened to your terrain cloths?

I got smashed 4 times twice playing Romans twice being Carthage.  Tried lots of TACTICS which, every time ALMOST worked but never did, completely.  lol lol
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

2019 Painting Challenge :
figures bought: 500+
figures painted: 57
9 vehicles painted
4 terrain pieces scratchbuilt

When I said, 'Squeezed in' Ian it wasn't just time I was talking about. :D
The table was piled high with work in progress. I managed (with Helen letting
me temporarily dump boxes in her conservatory) to clear PART of the table,
not nearly enough for the Battle Mats though. :'(.
I have now added to the (very long) list of projects, some DBA boards.
Absolutely no idea when I would do them, or for that matter where I would
store them. ::) It was just nice to be rolling the dice & talking bo**ocks.  :)

I think it was good that we stopped when we did. If you thing about it James, you were
getting closer to winning in each game. That last one where your General stormed across
the river, charged UPHILL to take my camp, then trapped TWO bases of Numidian light
cavalry and lose the fight AGAINST the odds. I won & pushed you back, the game went
effectively into extra time. If you had won it would have been...GAME OVER :o :o :o

One of the things I like about quick games (like DBA) is that you can play several in
a session.

it smacks of murder!'

We just wanted to throw the dice & chew the cud. Nothing serious. ;)

Too true. :? I believe my dice scores are Ying to Dicemaster's Yang. That noise you
hear when I throw the dice are the laws of Probability snapping back to normal,
after Garry has bent them double. lol
