28mm Assyrians Wargames Foundry vs Newline
« on: May 29, 2022, 09:09:28 PM »
Just wondering how compatible the Assyrians are from Newline with Wargames Foundry? I have a good pile of the Foundry figures but I need just a few more. The Newline are much cheaper and I’d be mixing them in to units.

Not much of an answer, but I'm crazy about Newline 10mm Assyrians. Satisfyingly solid figures with good detail.

Paul, I find Newline's 28s a bit hit-and-miss. Their Hittites are quite nice and mix well with Foundry and Warlord/Cutting Edge, their Sea Peoples are IMHO very crude. From what I can see of the Assyrians on the website they unfortunately fit into the latter category and I would be wary of trying to mix them with the superb Foundry sculpts.

I’ve got a mostly Newline army with Foundry generals, and I think size and heft-wise they are very similar. The Newline are more static and limited in pose, but hey, set against Foundry who isn’t ?

The Newline chariots are also a fraction of the cost of Foundry ones

I’ve never understood why like Victrix just doesn’t do biblicals and just like create demand.

Are you aware of the Irregular Miniatures 28mm Assyrians? They're completely different in style than their other ranges, and really nice (and sold individually). They're hidden away with the NKE 28mm range on their website, but there's a couple photos. Personally, they look better than Newline. I've no idea why Irregular don't promote them more!

I've done a lot of business with Irregular in the past, but I've often regretted it, what with incomplete orders and being stuck with colossal post and customs dues for stuff in the wrong scale. Now I don't touch them.
