Belgian's hot-airballoon
« on: October 11, 2009, 05:58:38 PM »

Hi, just like the title says I will try to build a 28mm hot airballoon to use in a Africa based pulp-game. It will be a basic round balloon with an attached basket, like today's hot airballoons.

I never joined a contest or so, so any help is welcome.

greets the Belgian,

This sounds good - and not easy - I am thinking of basketwork and ropes!

I assume you'll be making it for 28mm scale?

Yes it will be in 28mm-scale, I made some small sketches and I slightly changed my view on hot air balloons.

It wil not be so big as I thought (like an ordinary balloon) but it will be more like a 1-person observation- or safety-balloon (to stay out of harms way when giant dinosaurs roam freely through your camp, for people who watches jurrasic park II, the same manner as with the safety-lift when the trailer was attacked by a pair of T-rexes)

I came up with that particular idea while brainstorming about possiblities for a function for the balloon. And I really like it, the building will start tomorrow I guess,...

WIP's will follow during this week,

greets, the Belgian,

I think that shouldn't be a problem. If you follow the instructions described by Black Cat Bases in the above mentioned thread, you can insert pic links from your blog

Thanks, he's around the same size as mine  :D

Here's a link to my blog it's much handier for me:

I'm also considering to build 2 native pterodactyl riders to face the balloon. And maybe a larger balloon with some gunplatforms, etc ...

Who knows what the future will bring  ;D

I used a clear plastic christmas tree orniment when i did my Quar balloon.  they come in all sizes too so you can do a small one like mine or go bigger.  Good luck

I just used Armorys black primer and some reaper paints with a larger brush, just don't paint it on to thick. After it was all dry I painted on the patches and Quar Royalist emblem and thats about it, sorry no real tips there.  looking forward to your finished project.
