'Little Boy with Spitfire 1940.'
« on: July 23, 2022, 11:33:32 AM »
I've just gleaned this Salute freebie. I understand Kevin Dallimore did a painted up version of him. I've searched the interweb for any piccys of a painted figure, for inspiration...
but have drawn a blank, anyone help?

???

Um Harry - I don't mean to be pedantic, but was there supposed to be a pic with that post?  :)

Er, no. I'm hoping someone can give me a link to a painted up figure!

Is he not basically in a school uniform?

Grey shorts, socks an jumper (or blue). Black shoes white shirt & cap in whatever school colours you fancy?

It is odd that there are no pictures of it painted all I could find was this https://www.fantoricalwargaming.com/post/boy-with-spitfire

...and it has been painted as a statue.

Gosh that is well painted the detail like the rondels on the Spitfire is remarkable given its size.

Want a painting source? I’d pull out The Battle of Britain and pop it into your VHS/ DVD/ Blueray player. IIRC there ‘s a scene where a returning airman gives a model Spitfire to his child.

Of course if you apologise constantly you run the risk of being taken for a Brit. ;)

And why would that be a problem?

Okay, Gentlemen.  Let's settle down, now.   :)  Carlos was just making a joke.

As to the topic at hand, the good Mr. Haversham found that which he sought.  It's all good!  ;)

And why would that be a problem?

As someone born and part raised there I’ve never found it a problem, save for the odd occasion, explaining to the more clueless airline employee why I am carrying so many passports and how yes, I can, indeed have to, use different ones on different legs of my journey.

As the good Captain so rightly divined, it was a joke.
